Mother of epileptic boy will not get confiscated cannabis oil back – Billy Caldwell. Meet 12 year old Billy Caldwell. He suffers from a severe form of epilepsy. Billy was having over 100 seizures a day until he was treated with cannabis oil (cbd), and the seizures subsided. In 2017, the 12-year-old became the first person in the UK to be prescribed cannabis oil. But last month his doctor was orderd by the government to stop prescribing him the life-saving oil or he would lose his medical license.

To make matters worse, as seen in this footage from Monday, his cbd medicine was confiscated by customs agents at Heathrow airport. Billy’s cbd medicine was confiscated despite the risk of Billy having seizures without it. The British government sees it unlawful to possess Schedule 1 drugs at the airport, and considers the cbd that the Caldwells brought from Canada to be smuggled and therefore illegal. When a drug is schedule 1 in the UK, it means it is classed as having no medicinal benefit. So the government does not recognize cbd as a legitimate treatment for epilepsy, despite the hard scientific facts proving its effectiveness.
